In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, crumbled bacon and green chilies. Season with a pinch of salt and a few grinds of black pepper. Form into 4 patties.
Turn your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Once hot, place burgers on grill. While the first side cooks, brush the other side with the barbeque sauce. After about 4 minutes, flip burgers and brush the other side with the barbeque sauce. If using the cheese, now would be a good time to place it on each burger. Cook for approximately another 3-4 minutes (for a medium burger). Remove from heat and serve with your desired toppings (I highly suggest keeping things simple with a little lettuce, tomato and mashed avocado...but that is entirely up to you).
