I live in Chicago.

I absolutely, positively cannot stand cold weather.

I understand how the two previous statements seem to completely contradict themselves. Chicago is a cold, cold place.

Well, except for July. Then it is hotter than Hades. But in the winter? The midwest is a miserable place to live for someone who hates the cold and snow and anything having to do with ice.

Fall boots are cute. I can totally handle a nice pair of leather riding boots. Snow boots? Snow boots are anything but cute.

But, alas, this is where I live, and I have to find some way to deal with my least favorite season until I can move somewhere where it is 75 degrees at all times.

Mostly I deal with soup, with broccoli cheese soup being my top choice. And broccoli cheese soup absolutely, positively calls for a carby accompaniment.

Bonus points if you abandon real dishes and serve me soup in a bread bowl instead. That ish will get me through a good two hours week of winter without complaining.

  1. I’m with you, I hate the cold hence after growing up in the snow belt I moved to the tropics. We’re in a cold spell right now (cold for here). It’s 64F right now and I’ve got 4 layers on and making it a baking day to keep warm hence I’m making your bread bowls! It’s suppose to hit 48 here tonight which is like national emergency weather here! Schools close, everyone stays home. Can’t wait to fill these with some soup!

  2. Great recipe, thank you. I loved the bread bowls but I made cheesy potatoe ham soup and split pea ham soup with them. They were ammazing. We live in Berville michigan lol knowone knows even where it is, but it gets cold here and it’s already started so fast, my family loved a warm meal after the chilly rainy weather started today. Good old michigan gotta love the summer but the cold weather helps us appreciate the greatest warm soups and chili’s. I couldn’t imagine life without snow and cold at least sometimes.????ounce and a while it’s always nice to come in after a cold snowy day to great soup with bread bowls and hot chocolate with marshmallows and a warm fire. We don’t have the snow yet but I’m excited for it now that I have this recipe lol. Thanks again.
